A real 'old' favourite, this one... although will anyone kill me if I admit that I didn't really like it very much?

I bought it after watching the stunning British tv version from the 1980s starring Antony Andrews and Jeremy Irons (and what a gorgeous couple *they* made LOL) and was deeply disappointed to find the book was a major wade through pages and pages of upper class social history, with hardly a whisper of the affair between Charles and Sebastian. sad.gif I don't want sex on every page, but a lititle more than two brief hints would have been nice. LOL

I enjoyed the book, but that's because I found the upper class social history entertaining. I can see why the lengthy wodges of it might make the book a bit of a bore if it wasn't your thing, though.

Damn. Now I want to re-read it, and my copy's in storage.
